wes played with his blond hair getting ready in the morning. getting ready in the morning wasn't a long progress for wes and actually it was average length. wes wasn't a man who needed a long time to get ready but he wasn't a man who could just get up and be ready in five. it depended on the morning but wes usually woke up and ran for an hour before coming home and taking a shower. wes wasn't getting ready for the day though more for the night. he had a dinner date with his girlfriend, chrissie. apparently she had some news for him. wes didn't know what it could be. she needed to "talk" to him but she couldn't be breaking up with him. the two had spent the last 5 years together and wes thought it was going well. he had grown up and the last thought in his mind was to ever cheat on chrissie. she was everything to wes now and he meant that. he couldn't see himself being with any other woman other than her and there was always temptations but wes would never give into it instead he thought of chrissie whenever thoughts came about other women.
or maybe it could be a talk that wes never wanted to think about. his male friends bugged him about it more than when they bugged him about being with the same woman for so long. which was when chrissie would have the commitment talk with him. at the age of twenty-three, wes should be going to vegas with his best firends and hooking up with the hottest import that was only coming to new york for about three weeks before leaving but that wasn't what wes was dealing with instead it was those five long years of being together. wes had known chrissie since they were both five years old but there was still something fearful that came to wes' mind whenever the thought of committing to chrissie ever came to his mind. it was just something that made a shock and a shiver go down his spine. could he really do it? he didn't know at all. growing up, wes never did good role models for that. his parents had divorced when he was eight years old and his parents had both remarried at least four times each. it was just natural for wes to not feel good about marriage. his mom told him as a young child that he shouldn't grow up like his dad who had rushed into marriage after only two months of dating. wes and chrissie were more than just two months though. he wasn't sure how long it would take of the two dating before he was ready. he didn't want the thought of him and chrissie ending like his parents though who now hated whenever each others' name came into a conversation.
wes picked up the box he had hidden in a drawer from whenever chrissie came over. he opened it seeing the three diamond ring. wes had bought it a few weeks ago and had kept it with him. he didn't exactly have a plan for when he was going to ask her but wes didn't even know what time he was going to ask her. he had kept the ring in the jacket of his pocket for the right time but every time he thought about it, he got nervous and instead kept the ring inside his jacket. wes looked down at it as he shined it in the sun. it was so shiny and would look perfect on chrissie's finger but wes just wasn't ready for that. he slipped on a pair of dark wash jeans over his light blue boxers. he had put the ring onto his bed as he tried to think about what he was going to do with it. he buttoned up the light blue shirt and slipped on a tan jacket on top. wes looked down at the ring as he picked it up and slipped it in. there was still doubt in his mind but the right time could come and wes didn't want to miss that. he could easily plan something actually he had in his mind. he had thought up the whole bring her back to his house, line the staircase with rose petals that leads to his room with even more rose petals and candles, drop down on one knee and propose but wes felt that was too planned out. obviously something would go wrong and he just wanted the moment to be perfect. he knew in his mind that chrissie was secretly wondering in her mind when the time would come but wes just couldn't bring himself to. he had already asked her father but it had been so long, a few months ago? yeah around that and he didn't want for mr. bellamont to think of it as a joke. wes had been serious when he had asked for his permission.
wes stared at himself once more in the mirror as he fixed at his hair before leaving for the restaurant. questions of what was going to happen tonight was running through his head. what actually was going to happen? he clasped his hands together as he felt them sweat. he told himself it was going to be okay. chrissie loved him and he loved her. that's what he hoped it still was but there was still doubt in his mind. he stared down at his watch seeing that it was almost seven. wes usually wasn't used to being late but it was just one of those days. had it been the thoughts that had made him a few minutes late. as he made himself into the restaurant he knew he was a few minutes late but he was used to waiting on christine too. the waiter asked for the name and he didn't know if it was his or christine so he said either one. the waiter walked wes to the table where he saw christine sitting. the grin that appeared on his face was uncomfortable. he walked to her kissing her on her cheek before sitting down across from her. "hey," he whispered in her ear as he kissed her chee,. wes eyed the red dress he was wearing and tried to keep his testosterone levels normal as he picked up the menu. "you look amazing tonight." he grinned not wanting to rush into the "talk".
